Job Outline –     

1 P/T Male Support workers , 10hrs Muirkirk or employer willing to offer 1 x 16 to 20hrs per week

 

Post 10hrs Male Personal Assistant

To work closely and flexibly with a young man who has a Learning Difficulty and is non-verbal, he communicates using Makaton.

The role is to ensure he is appropriately supported to participate in a full range of opportunities in his life and to continue to develop and follow his hobbies and interests.

wage rate – £12 per hour, but could be higher depending on experience , having Makaton training would be classed as
Job Purpose To work closely and flexibly with a young man who has a Learning Difficulty and non-verbal, to ensure he is appropriately supported to participate in a full range of opportunities in his life and to continue to develop and follow his hobbies and interests.

 

Employer You will be employed by the family , who will be assisted to administer payroll and undertake the necessary employment support responsibilities by a relevant support organisation .
Key Duties and Responsibilities

 

 

 

You will be responsible for supporting the gentleman to engage in all aspects of community life and activities as directed by his family.

Being flexible is a key component to this job and you will be guided by the family about the particular activities he wants to participate in at particular times and you are expected to support his choices.

It would be beneficial for those interested in the post to be  quite a sporty person who enjoys playing pool and snooker or swimming, as well as trying to introduce a more sport activity based structure to his days .

The young man enjoys going out to eat and would like someone to take him, this will assist with him building a relationship.

You may at times be required to provide companionship in his own home.

Training Some training or shadow shifts will be required

Personal Qualities The gentleman has a wide range of interests which are in a table at the end of this person spec. He is looking to recruit someone with some similar interests.

He is looking for someone with a good sense of humour, down to earth, has patience and understanding and can cope in difficult situations.

The person should be good at connecting into community activities and making contacts/networks

Other You must have a full clean UK driving licence that has been held for 3 years or more and have business use on your car Ins. Mileage for work purposes will be given.

You must be physically fit.

You must have a good sense of humour.
