Post Personal Assistant

to a Lady in Irvine

 __12.5hrs per week x 2 workers
Salary

 

Living wage rate – £12.60 to £13.73 per hour , wages are paid 4 weekly in arrears
Annual Leave

 

5.6 weeks paid Annual leave pro rate for contracted staff
Days of work / times required

 

 

12.5hrs per week each

2 to 3 days – each person

Days – Week days, plus weekends

On a rota basis, times to be discussed.

Job Purpose To support a young woman who has a learning disability. She has communication difficulties that can cause her to be frustrated at times.

She lives in her own home, supported by a team of staff. It is important to recognize that the care and support you are employed to assist with will be provided within that home, therefore confidentiality and respect for the persons privacy and daily routine is of the utmost importance.

The tasks you may be required to do will vary, according to her needs, and could include the following:

She needs assistance and encouragement to do as much as possible for herself, to aid her with Independent Living Skills.

To aid her with her personal care tasks, keeping the house clean, cooking, shopping, household tasks

Helping her be part of her community. Taking part in new activities and engaging in new experiences, socializing with friends and family.

Employer You will be employed by the persons parent who will be your  employer, they will be assisted to administer payroll and undertake the necessary employment support responsibilities by a relevant support organisation.
Probationary period

 

·         There is a 6 month probationary period attached to the post

·         Successful applicant will have to undergo a new or update of the PVG disclosure scheme and supply 2 up to date reference contacts prior to appointment

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Being flexible is a key component to this job and you will be guided by the employer herself about the particular activities and duties she wants you to participate in at particular times

You may be required to work in the evening on occasions and at the weekends to support her interests. This will usually be planned in advance.

You will be required to drive and have use of your own vehicle  you should be willing and able to do this with confidence and support her travelling to various locations. This may include the bus / train

You may at times be required to provide companionship in her own home.

Training Previous experience working with adults with additional support needs is required.

Personal Qualities The young woman has a wide range of interests which are in a table at the end of this person spec. She is looking to recruit someone with some similar interests.

She is looking for someone with a good sense of humour, down to earth, likes a good blether and a bit of banter but is also a good listener.

The person should be good at connecting into community activities and making contacts/networks

Wide experience of community activities
Other You must have a full clean UK driving licence

You must have a good sense of humour, be flexible and reliable

 

The Persons interests are: 
When going to the Cinema, Bowling, Dancing

Going to appointments

Meeting Friends/Family

I like to listen to music

I would like to go swimming

I would like to go out in the evenings

I would like to go out for drives in the car  —  This will include using my vehicle, you must have a clean drivers licence and due to the car Insurance will need to be over 25

Expenses for entrance fees etc will be reimbursed.

 

There is 5.6 weeks A/L attached to the post. Of which you may be asked to use 2 weeks at the same time as the employer. If the person you support receives traditional respite, then your a/L may have to be taken at this time. Please discuss at interview

There is also a 6 month probationary period with a 1 weeks notice within this time, if the post does not work out.
