ILF Scotland presentation with AILN – the new Scottish Independent Living Fund
As advertised, yesterday AILN hosted a presentation providing information about the launch of the new Scottish Independent Living Fund (ILF Scotland). This was facilitated by Helen Sykes and Peter Scott (CEO) of ILF Scotland. The event was at the Menzies Hotel in Irvine. It was a relaxed event and lots of useful discussions took place.
For those of you who missed it, here are some key points –
The UK Government made a decision to close the UK ILF on June 30th 2015
Responsibility for all Scottish and Irish users will pass to ILF Scotland on 1st July 2015
The Scottish Government will protect current awards in Scotland as long as you remain eligible
The DWP have agreed to transfer the existing IT system used by the current ILF UK to ILF Scotland. This will ensure current Scottish and Irish data is transferred securely and safely.
There will be no change to ILF payments and they will continue as normal
Any future changes to your award will take place through a visit or direct contact with the future ILF Scotland
ILF Scotland will follow usual way of doing things and formats as closely as possible to calculate people’s contributions
The Scottish Government has set aside £5m for new ILF applications during 15-16
The ILF Scotland website will go live in the next couple of weeks ILF Scotland website and the phone lines from 1st July. Numbers will be listed on the website when confirmed. All calls until then should be directed to ILF UK.
