Hours: 2 posts x 30 hrs per wk (120 hrs in a 4 wk period)
To be worked Mon – Fri 9am – 9pm
ROP: £9.25 per hour
You must be flexible regarding hours of work as these will be on a rota basis. You must be able to work extra hours to cover sickness & holidays
Staff will be required to work on a rota basis to cover support hours between 9am and 9pm, Monday to Friday providing personal care, domestic assistance and social support to a gentleman in Ayr.
The employer is a young, sensible minded, fifty three year old who has suffered a double leg amputation and other physical disabilities, nevertheless he is very mentally astute. He lives in an impeccable adapted house with required accessories – tracking hoist etc.
He is involved with Race Horse Syndicates and travels throughout the UK visiting meetings / Yards etc. He also holidays abroad and visits around the UK, to appointments etc. He is looking for sensible, open minded individuals who are capable of assisting in a varied selection of tasks / mixed duties.
Staff will be required to assist with personal care including:
Assistance with the medical elements of the employers care, including provision of regular enemas, distribution of medication. You will be required to use a Hoist and other medical equipment such as Slings / Commode / Sheaths etc
The employer is able to feed himself – preparation of meals required followed by medication.
The employer lives in an impeccable home, general domestic assistance & maintenance of the home will be required (Gardeners maintain the Garden area)
Staff will provide the employer with social support, accompanying him on outings, to appointments, meetings and you will be required to drive the employer’s vehicle and escort him to venues / holidays / meetings / appointments etc.
You must hold a current clean driving licence and be willing to drive the employer’s vehicle.
Staff may be required to accompany the employer on holiday and must be prepared to travel both in the UK and abroad and you must be available for overnight stays. You must be mature enough to deal with the employers travel requirements, passports, bookings etc.
The employer has a pet parrot and a pair of love birds therefore it is important that staff have no bird allergies or phobias as you will be required to prepare food for the birds and clean cages.
Experience / Qualifications Required
Experience / Qualifications required: Hospital / Nursing experience or respectable levels of S.V.Q or similar are essential
Training required: Moving & Assisting (you will be required to use a hoist), Medication administration / Enema Assistance etc.
Staff must be confident to work on their own and as part of a team, and should be personable, well-mannered and have the ability to deal with and manage mood swings.
The employer’s home is a Non-Smoking environment
***This position is subject to a 6 month probationary period.
