Personal Assistant / Support Worker (Female) – CASUAL
Hours: CASUAL – As and when required to cover holidays and sickness
Location: Troon
Proposed Shifts to be covered: Tues / Thurs / Fri / Sun 10.00am – 2.00pm
Applicants must be flexible as hours may change to suit the needs of the employer and occasional evening support may be required
ROP: £10.50 per hour
Details
CASUAL Personal Assistant / Support worker required to provide Personal Care / Social Support and Household tasks support to a young woman in her own home. This is a CASUAL post to provide holiday and sickness cover for the other PA.
The employer lives with serious health conditions which can fluctuate and require short stays in hospital for treatment.
This post would be suited to applicants who are caring, friendly, with a mature outlook, whilst being young at heart and upbeat. You must be able to use your own initiative and it is important that you have the ability to manage your allocated time to provide the support required as stated in the job description and not allow yourself to be distracted from the stated tasks.
It is important to recognize that as the care you are employed to assist with will be provided within the lady’s home, confidentiality and respect for her privacy is of the utmost importance. Applicants should be open minded, non-judgemental and able to respect individuality.
Duties
The employer wishes to maintain her independence however on occasion her health will deteriorate and you will be required to provide support with Personal Care, including showering, drying, assistance with dressing and prompting with medication.
An important part of the role will be to support with grocery shopping / food preparation and batch cooking. Assistance will also be required with light housework including hoovering, changing beds, laundry, keeping the bathroom and kitchen clean etc.
You will also assist with paperwork / correspondence / making appointments – prompting any action required.
Social support may include taking the employer to the shops / bank & appointments (when her health is poor PAs would be required to go to the shop on behalf of the employer). It is hoped that in time PAs will also accompany the employer on social outings including going out for a meal or going out for an evening.
As the employers health conditions result in frequent hospital stays for treatment, support will be required to visit her in hospital and assist with picking up clothing / laundry etc therefore applicants must be flexible and willing to provide this support when required.
Applicants must like animals as a neighbour’s small friendly dog likes to visit on occasion.
Please note that the employer is a smoker.
Experience / Qualifications Required
Experience of support work preferred but not essential.
It would be beneficial for applicants to be a driver with full clean drivers licence and use of own car to take the employer out to appointments / shopping etc. Fuel costs will be covered by the employer. Business insurance will be required.
***This position is subject to a 6 month probationary period.
Successful applicants will have to provide 2 references (one of which must be your current or most recent employer) and undergo a New PVG Disclosure at the employers cost.
