£9.30 per hr

The role involves caring for a man who has a spinal injury and is a wheelchair user. He lives with and gets support from his partner.
He is looking to employ a personal assistant on a flexible basis including evenings and weekends (64 hrs flexible over 4 weeks.) Applicants expected to be flexible regarding hours of work and to be able to work extra hours if required.
He is looking for someone that is willing to go the extra mile and help him lead an independent life. It would be desirable but not essential that they have experience of supporting adults with physical disabilities.
It is important to recognise that the care and support you will assist with will involve going to the family home, therefore confidentiality and respect for him and his partner’s privacy and daily routine is of the upmost importance.
He also particularly enjoys listening to music, going to concerts, watching tv, shopping and socialising with friends and eating out.
Main role will be to accompany and provide support enabling him to attend appointments, meet friends, travel to wheelchair football competitions so he can get the most out of all social life both inside and outside the house.
There will be occasions where support with personal care requirements will be needed. For example: support with washing/showering, dressing, catheter care, assisting with bowel management, giving medication, ensuring appropriate levels of hygiene, assisting with meal preparation etc.
Looking for a competent, experienced driver with full clean driving licence who can drive his wheelchair accessible vehicle.
Attend any training courses that are arranged and that you need to undertake in order to do your job safely. Training will be paid for by the employer.
Two up to date Reference contacts are required one of which must be from a present or previous employer. In addition a new or update of the PVG disclosure scheme will be required prior to appointment (disclosure cost to be met by the employer).
Probationary Period is 6 months. During this period, either party can end the employment by giving the other one weeks’ notice.
