Personal Assistant to a Lady who lives in New Cumnock
P/T support 16 hrs per week
this may include covering day shifts, back shifts, some evenings and weekends. As well as other staff A/L or sickness, to be discussed at interview
Salary
Living wage rate – £10.50 per hour
Job Purpose
To work closely and flexibly with a Lady who has a physical disability to ensure she is appropriately supported to participate in a full range of opportunities in her life and to continue to develop her independence.
Employer
You will be employed by a Personal employer, who will be assisted to administer payroll and undertake the necessary employment support responsibilities by a relevant support organisation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The employee will be required to assist the employer with personal care tasks, that will include showering, dressing, shaving legs and arms, drying and dressing.
Assist with household tasks: this will include washing, ironing, changing bedding, cooking cleaning, shopping, emptying bins, polishing, sweeping floors, keeping the kitchen, bathroom and the rest of the house clean, general household tasks.
To assist the employer with the feeding of my 10 dogs, ensure they have fresh water and their bowls are kept clean.
To assist the employer getting out and about
Being flexible is a key component to this job and you will be guided by the employer about the particular activities she wants to participate in at particular times and you are expected to support her choices.
You will be required to drive as part of your role. Must have your own vehicle, mileage allowance will be provided.
Training
You will be expected to undergo any other training relevant to the employer’s needs.

previous experience of supporting people
Good interpersonal skills and values reflecting social inclusion.
Excellent and effective communication skills.
Excellent listening skills.
Good organisational skills.
Must adhere to PPE Covid safety and take regular Lateral flow tests.
Working knowledge of good person-centred practice.
Experience
Can engage effectively and work in partnership with others.
Have supported people to achieve positive outcomes in their life.
Personal Qualities
The employer is looking for someone with a good sense of humour, down to earth, likes a good blether and a bit of banter but is also a good listener.
Must be flexible and be willing to cover shifts, possibly at short notice.
Must be comfortable around dogs and not scared, as the employer has her own as well as fosters.
Other
You must have a full clean UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle, you must have business use on your insurance.
You must be physically fit as at times I need to use a wheelchair
You must have a good sense of humour.
You must be a dog lover, as the employer has 7 of her own, as well as fosters dogs.
May be required to drive to Glasgow or Paisley due to my hospital appointments, so must be a confident driver.
Successful will have to undergo a new or update of the PVG disclosure scheme and provide 2 up to date reference contacts
