Ref 001/Largs/JL P/T Buddy Support Worker – Largs Area
6hrs per week ( 24hrs in a 4 week period flexible ), hours will be through the week after school, but may include weekends in school holidays, to be further discussed at interview
£8.75 per hr
Must have: previous experience working with children with extra support needs and epilepsy and Autism (epilepsy training can be given )
Buddy support worker to support a teenager with Socialising and some personal care, as well as administer medication as he has unstable epilepsy.
He has no immunity regarding bugs of any sort.
He is a very happy friendly boy, but has no idea regarding Stranger Danger ( DOES NOT UNDERSTAND DANGER ), so cannot be left alone at all, whilst out in public places, as he will go away with anyone. ( VERY IMPORTANT TO RECOGNISE THIS )
He can’t cope with negativity and relates better to people who are confident and can cope with his openness. This may include lots of questions.
He likes bowling / swimming / watching DVDs / doing Jigsaws / going to the park and just generally having fun. A good knowledge of super heroes would be a distinct advantage
Applicants should be outgoing, friendly, reliable, be able to cope if he has an epileptic seizure, enjoy the outdoors and research the area the young person lives in to see where he can go, places to see and things to do
Successful applicant will be required to undergo a new or update of the PVG disclosure, at the employers cost and provide 2 up to date reference contacts, prior to appointment
