The person requiring the support is a lady who lives at home with her parents. She is totally dependent on support from both her family and her staff.


It is highly important to recognize that the care you are employed to assist with will be provided within the family home, therefore confidentiality and respect for the family’s privacy and daily routine is of the utmost importance.  


****** It is imperative that you use the hand sanitiser gel provided to reduce the chance of any cross transference of infection and to manage infection control.


The lady has night time seizures that may require medication, you will be expected to record any medication or intervention given whilst she is in your care. Previous experience working with individuals with epilepsy will be advantageous or a willingness to undertake training. Experience of working in the care sector is essential, as well as flexibility re working hrs, reliability, a calm demeanour.


There is a 6 month probation attached to this post, with a 1 weeks’ notice within this time if the post is not working out.  A contract of employment will be provided within 8 weeks of the successful persons start date.


There are 2 posts on offer:

Averaging 19 ¼ hrs per week on a rota shift pattern

Week 1 — will be 2 waking nights 10pm – 8am ( 20hrs )

Week 2 — will be 2 days ( generally a T, W or Thurs ) and 1 waking night ( 18.5hrs )


All hrs are paid at £8.25 per hr which is the Scottish Living Wage, wages are paid 4 weekly in arrears


Staff will be required to assist with cover for other staff Annual leave and sickness cover


The tasks you may be required to do will vary, according to the needs of the individual and could include the following:



Assistance with medication – may include Medazalam ( epilepsy medication )

Help with some personal care

Assistance with eating, drinking

Movement and positioning


HOUSEHOLD TASKS: To be completed for the person you are employed to assist only.

These will be completed on a regular basis throughout the week or when needed:


Some light cooking and Preparing a meal, sandwich, drink

Keeping the kitchen clean and tidy, mopping floor

Household cleaning, which will include the bathroom, bedroom etc

My Laundry, Ironing

Changing my Bedding


This Job Description is set around the individuals needs as is the rota and either may change in the future according to her support needs. Notice will be given to staff of any changes
