Job Outline –  Maternity leave Support worker / Driver  — Mat/EG/PT/1

Post     Personal Assistant to a Lady who lives in New Cumnock

16 hours per week – Maternity cover only

3 to 4 days over 7, this will include some evenings and weekends. As well as being able to cover extra hrs for other staff A/L


Living wage rate – £9.30 per hour

Job Purpose    To work closely and flexibly with a Lady who has a physical disability to ensure she is appropriately supported to participate in a full range of opportunities in her life and to continue to develop her independence.

Employer        You will be employed by a Personal employer, who will be assisted to administer payroll and undertake the necessary employment support responsibilities by a relevant support organisation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The employee will be required to assist the employer with personal care tasks, that will include showering, dressing, shaving legs and arms, drying and dressing.

Assist with household tasks: this will include washing, ironing, changing bedding, cooking cleaning, shopping, emptying bins, polishing, sweeping floors, keeping the kitchen, bathroom and the rest of the house clean, general household tasks.

To assist with the feeding of my 5 dogs, ensure they have fresh water and their bowls are kept clean.

To assist the employer getting out and about

Being flexible is a key component to this job and you will be guided by the employer about the particular activities she wants to participate in at particular times and you are expected to support her choices.

You will be required to drive as part of your role, using your own vehicle, mileage allowance will be provided. Must have business use on your car Ins.

Training          You will be expected to undergo any other training relevant to the employer’s needs.

Personal Qualities      The employer is looking for someone with a good sense of humour, down to earth, likes a good blether and a bit of banter but is also a good listener.

Must be flexible and be willing to cover some hrs for other staff A/L or sickness


You must have a full clean UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle, you must have business use on your insurance.

You must be physically fit as at times I need to use a  wheelchair

You must have a good sense of humour.

You must be a dog lover, as the employer has 5.

The employer loves her dogs, enjoys concerts, going out, cinema
