Casual Female Personal Support Assistant – Mainly Overnights

The post is:
Overnight waking nightshift 10 hrs shifts – Casual holiday and sick leave cover
Hourly rate of pay £9.30

Days and hrs: Flexible. Further requirements to be discussed at interview

Casual Personal Support Assistant in the Cumnock area. Driving license essential. To cover holiday and sick leave. Will require to work overnight. Immediate start available.

Occasional day shifts

All hrs paid at £9.30 per hr, wages are paid 4 weekly in arrears

Applicants must have a current driving license as they will may be driving a manual wheelchair adapted vehicle. Successful applicants will have to undergo a new or update for the PVG disclosure scheme, at the employers cost, as well as supply 2 up to date reference contacts, one should be from a current or previous employer.

There is a six month probationary period attached to the post, with a 1 weeks’ notice if the post is not working out

Overview of Duties:
The employer occasionally requires overnight support in her own home. There are times when she is bed bound and completely reliant on support from workers for all her needs. This post requires someone who can remain awake overnight to support the employer and can be called on to cover shifts at 24 hours notice.
The post will also involve holiday and sick cover day support within the employer’s home and at different activities in the local area therefore a driving license is essential.

She also has a therapy dog. It will be part of the employee’s role to help the employer with the dog, this will include walking, feeding and caring for the dog.

This post has been identified to:
Cover overnight support when needed which will be in the form of a 10 hour waking nightshift often at only 24 hours notice. Occasional day support, again possibly at short notice, in her own home if she is unable to go out. Driving her to various activities out with her home in her own wheelchair adapted car.

Duties include helping a wheelchair bound lady with personal care, daily household tasks, overnight support and social activities.

No previous experience in care necessary as full training given.

Applicants must have a current driving license as they will be driving a wheelchair adapted vehicle. Successful applicants will have to undergo a new or update for the PVG disclosure scheme, at the employers cost.

It would be highly beneficial for prospective employees to have:

Have experience of caring for someone who is unable to live independently.
Experience using a tracking hoist, although specific employer related training will be given
Experience of working with both manual and electric wheelchairs
Experience of driving a wheelchair adapted vehicle including securing wheelchair safely
Basic first aid and food hygiene

The employee must:
Have a clean, current driving license.
Be a competent driver
Have experience of looking after a dog.

The assistance you provide to the employer will vary but will largely involve:
10 hour waking nighshift.
Assisting to stay safe and well. This will involve helping her to monitor her mental and physical health and encourage her to take appropriate action to safeguard and maintain her health

Assisting her to care for her therapy dog.
Treat her at all times, as an adult and unique individual, recognising her rights to choose, dignity, individuality, love, friendship and respect
To, at all times, talk respectfully to and about her, recognising that she has individual rights and she is your employer
Assist her to plan for the future and to solve problems that are worrying her
