ICO Visit in preparation for GDPR
AILN were fortunate to have a request accepted for a visit by a representative from the Information Commisioner’s Office. We wanted them to check our new and secure information management system, and check that AILN are ready and compliant ahead of the new data protection legislation coming into force in May 2018. It’s called GDPR.
What does GDPR mean?
Businesses and organisations will now have a higher level of responsibility for customer information and must not keep data unnecessarily. There will be a greater duty of care and transparency where there is a security breach.
The rules can be quite complex but all AILN staff are all now trained on data protection and the ICO have checked our policies and procedures and requested a couple of changes for May. These are well underway and we are in contact with the local authorities to ensure we work together efficiently on this.
All AILN customers, partners and organisations can be assured that we are working to make this new legislation part of our working culture.
