Job Purpose | To work closely and flexibly with a young gentleman to participate in a full range of opportunities in his life and to continue to develop and follow his hobbies and interests.
A high level of communication with Deafblind Manual is essential. Training can be provided for this. Guiding and assisting with mobility is essential, being aware of environmental hazards, etc. Evening hours will be required for my hobbies. The employers main interest is martial arts, specifically Judo but may try other styles, so someone with an interest in martial arts would be good. Prior knowledge or a willingness to learn and understand the terminology used in martial arts will be an advantage. |
Employer | You will be employed by the young man, who will be assisted to administer payroll and undertake the necessary employment support responsibilities by a relevant support organisation / payroll service. |

You will be responsible for supporting the gentleman to engage in all aspects of community life and activities as directed by him.
Being flexible is a key component to this job and you will be guided by the gentleman himself about the particular activities he wants to participate in at particular times and you are expected to support his choices. You may be required to work in the evening on occasions and at the weekends to support his interest. This will usually be planned in advance. You will be required to drive the gentleman’s car / own car at times and you should be willing and able to do this with confidence and support him travelling to various locations. If using your own vehicle you must have business use on your car Ins, a clean drivers licence and road worthy car. Mileage will be reimbursed |
Training | Preferably have Deaf / Blind sign language or be willing to undertake training. |

There is 5.6 weeks A/L attached to the post. Of which you may be asked to use 2 weeks at the same time as the employer. Please discuss at interview
There is also a 6 month probationary period with a 1 weeks notice within this time, if the post does not work out.
Successful applicants will have to undergo a new or update of the PVG disclosure scheme prior to appointment and supply 2 up to date reference contacts, one of which should be a current or previous employer
