Post Female Personal Assistant to support a Lady in Kilmarnock, that is in her middle 20s

Living wage rate – £12.60 per hour , wages are paid 4 weekly in arrears

MON, TUES, WED

5HRS PER DAY, DAYTIME HRS MOSTLY

Job Purpose The role is to provide 5 to 15hrs per week support, to a young female in her middle 20s. She lives with her parents and their friendly labrador in Kilmarnock.

A driver is preferred with own transport.

She relates better to people within her own age range mid twenties to mid thirties.

Previous experience working with young adults with LD / Autism is preferred.

Some potential overnight cover including weekends may be required on occasions..

Hrs will be M,T,W 5hrs per day – roughly 9.30 – 2.30pm . The

Main aim is support with Pers care and social support, as well as respite cover. She has no sense of danger, therefore cannot be left unattended when out and about.

 

Employer You will be employed by the family who will be the personal employer, they will be assisted to administer payroll and undertake the necessary employment support responsibilities by a relevant support organisation.
Probationary period

 

·         There is a 6 month probationary period attached to the post

·         Successful applicant will have to undergo a new or update of the PVG disclosure scheme and supply 2 up to date reference contacts prior to appointment

Key Duties and Responsibilities

 

 

Personalise as required

You will be responsible for supporting the young person to engage in her community.

You will be assisting with some personal care tasks as directed by the employer

Being flexible is a key component to this job and you will be guided by the employer re the particular activities she wants to participate in at particular times you are expected to support her

You may be required to work in the evening on occasions and at the weekends to support her, this will be notified in advance

Some potential overnight supports, to enable her parents to have a break away for a night

You may at times be required to provide companionship in her own home. This will include doing girly things likes painting her nails, watch a movie, play games.

Training Previous experience supporting adults with additional support needs Is required.

Personal Qualities The young lady has a wide range of interests which are in a table at the end of this person spec. She is looking to recruit someone that will support her with these interests.

She is looking for someone with a good sense of humour, down to earth, likes a good blether and a bit of banter but is also a good listener and good company.

The person should be good at connecting into community activities and making contacts/networks

Wide experience of community activities
Other Preferably have a full clean UK driving licence, with business insurance included in your car Ins.

You must be physically fit, as she does like a walk

You must have a good sense of humour, be flexible and reliable

 

 

 

The Persons interests are:

 

Eating out / drives out / walks in the park / her dog / playing music / doing jigsaw puzzles / going on the bus ( has bus pass with additional  companion ) / ten pin bowling / going to the cinema ( has cinema card ) going to local disability disco /

 

There is 5.6 weeks A/L attached to the post. Of which you may be asked to use 2 weeks at the same time as the employer. If the person you support receives traditional respite, then your a/L may have to be taken at this time. Please discuss at interview

There is also a 6 month probationary period with a 1 weeks notice within this time, if the post does not work out.
